Watermill – sketch (WIP)

Watermill_sketch_small

The winter has been going on way too long.  Not that I have anything to complain about, living in the tropics.  Spring, however has so much significance in the way of beginnings; nature flourishes and awakens and animals come out of their hibernation.  We shed winter coats and heavy clothing and feel more liberated and motivated to do things.  Having said all this, I wanted to paint the picture of a warm spring day by the water.  The first thing that came to mind was a waterfall.  Since I’ve painted waterfall in my recent illustration, I’ve decided it would be nice to have something different.  Watermill sounded like a great idea.  I could hear chirping of the birds and water splashing in the background.
With that in mind, I went to work on the structure of the watermill and using few reference images, I came up with this sketch.  Reference was used for the architecture, since I haven’t done many pieces featuring buildings, so I needed visual help.  I will post process shots here and there as I go along.  In the next few days, as schedule permits, I will post color rough…

Take care 🙂
